2000; Leaving Our Roots 2012 Settling Down!

"If the traveler expects the highway to be safe and well  graded,  he might as well stay at home." Charles Kuralt

For those of you that are to young to remember,  Mr. Kuralt appeared regularly on the CBS Evening News and anchored the CBS News broadcast Sunday Morning in the 1960's.

Charles Kuralt was born on September 10, 1934 in Wilmington, North Carolina.  Through his television series A LIFE ON THE ROAD, he brought the outside world of this vast country into the living rooms of  armchair travelers for twenty three years.

He was also the author of :  ON THE ROAD WITH CHARLES KURALT,  NORTH CAROLINA IS MY HOME, AND DATELINE: AMERICA TO THE TOP OF THE WORLD.

All are welcome to ride along with us as we follow  Mr. Kuralts adventures.

Annie and I had been together in South Florida for a short while when we decided to follow in the footsteps of Mr. Kuralt. We would work while touring America sharing our experience.

Since we didn't know how we'd get along in close quarters, after a month long search in November of '99 we purchased a 29 foot 1975 Dodge "Executive" coach.

top of the line coach in its day            but a dinosaur compared to                today's high powered designer Recreational Vehicles.  Never-the-less,  it was within our  means and we called it home.   A year later we traded up to our  new Holiday Rambler 5th wheel        pulled by a Volvo HDT   registered motor-home.

Update Nov. 2012

Been awhile since I posted.  I lost some interest partially due to me believing I'm the only one that actually reads this.  So long story short; with almost 100,000 miles both here and abroad behind Annie and I, we've sold the 5th wheel and have purchased a double wide 1,200 sq.ft mobile at a park in Grass Valley, CA.  GV has seemed like home to us during the 4 years we've returned to Workamp the summer seasons.

A  poor economy, fewer paying campground positions,  high fuel prices' and pricey maintenance to our rigs was also a deciding factor in our choice.  Our future intentions; volunteering  to give back to a community we love.  Purchase a smaller truck and travel trailer so we can get away when the need arises, keep eating the best healthiest way possible and always have a good glass of Vino close by. . .

Until we meet again.  Happy trails and cheers.
